Things we know
A short piece from the vaults, edited for today
There are things we know with our head.
There are things we know with our body.
There are things we want to believe with all our heart.
There are things we know with our being and soul but have no words to express it.
There are feelings, emotions and sensations, that can’t, won’t, have words to describe them but that doesn’t make them less real.
There are experiences we have that are nothing less than magical, whether we believe in magic or not.
There are people who will always be a part of us whether they are actively in our lives or not.
There are kindreds who will come in and out of our lives who just get us in a way we didn’t know we needed to be understood before.
There will be times when exactly the right person enters our life. And while they are exactly right right now, they may not stay for as long as we want, hope, or believe we need.
There are goodbyes that are for forever and there are goodbyes that are only “until next time”. We rarely know which a specific goodbye is until the time passes to tell us.
There is wanting and longing and aching and wishing so much was different while at the same time you know you wouldn’t really change a moment of it, because it was so beautiful and perfect.
Love never dies. It grows, shifts, expands, contracts, changes. But it doesn’t die or disappear.
There are days when you want share something with that person who would get it, but they aren’t there, so you can’t. There is a grief that comes with this that can’t be described.
There are times when the tears fall because the beauty, magic, and realness was so fucking perfect.
Books have chapters. Stories continue long after the book ends.
Often apparent endings are new beginnings.
Sometimes we need time and space to reset. In the liminal space of resetting we may feel all is lost and we are so scared because we can’t see the next chapter, we can’t see the After.
In The After is where we will find ourselves again. In The After is where we come back together, not the same, wholly and holy changed. The After can, likely will be, more amazing, magical, beautiful, and perfect than The Before. Because of things we learned and now know. Because rebirth requires death. Because some things won’t be forced and we can learn to live in the allowing and void and darkness because we know within and outside of it is so much light.
