Self care is never an isolated event
We are not nearly as alone as the systems of harm want us to believe
For years there has been a trend pushing for self-care and self-(nervous system)regulation. I have admittedly been a part of it. For me the intention of focusing on “self-care” and “self-regulation” was to slow down, to shift from our reactive, survival-focused back brain into our creative, responsive front brain in order to grow more nurturing and nourishing relationships with ourselves and those we interact with.
I’m a writer at my core. I believe language, words, have profound power. We cast spells and curses with our words. We shift or maintain paradigms with our words. We change or retain our ways of feeling and being with words, story, language. I try to always careful with my words, the ones I write, the ones I speak. I do my best to be intentional, thoughtful, and clear with my words. I’m not perfect, and often fail. I’m human and have spoken things I don’t mean. I am ever-evolving and the words I use are too.
