It is so easy to be distracted in our lives. We all have, what feels like, a million or more things going on in our lives: work, family, friends, household management, yard work... our to do lists are never ending and most of the things on those lists never end within themselves (household management for example). We focus on all the doing, on all the external things, all day, every day.
Add to this, our striving to be "better," whatever that means to us each individually. We seem to think if we just made more money or lost ten pounds or were finally able to meditate every day or have our house perfectly clean or, or, or... then we will be happy. Then we can rest and enjoy our lives. Then we can partake in pleasurable things like that vacation or buy that dress or, or, or.
We lose sight of pleasure. There is no time for it. And we don't believe we are deserving of it (because we haven't achieved X and therefore aren't worthy of pleasure). We are too busy with our daily lives to …
