We associate our hearts with tender feelings, be those feelings of love and happiness or be that pain and sorrow. 

We refer to grief as heart break or when we are grieving that our hearts have been broken.  Sometimes when we are grieving deeply our chest actually hurts.

There are physical sensations to grief as well as emotional ones.  We feel grief in our bodies as much as we feel it in our minds and psyches.  

We can hold more than just sadness and happiness, grief and love in our hearts.  We can also hold anger and resentment, rage and vindictiveness.  

Those of us who experienced trauma have plenty to be angry about, plenty to rage about,  plenty to be resentful of and vindictive about.  

Our rage is valid.

And.

Sometimes when we focus on the rage or anger it stops us from feeling the grief.  It can serve as what may feel like a protective block, but is a block nonetheless.
