Emodiment, reconnection, and interconnection
Embodiment/somatic work is a vital part of changing our relationships
Learning to trust ourselves is not only part of our trauma healing, it is also part of unraveling our social conditioning around our bodies, what is “valid” knowledge, and moving away from intellectualism and back into the the wisdom beyond our logic brains.
Patriarchal, white supremacist, captialist indoctrination teaches us that if we can’t logically “prove” something, if it is not physically tangible, then it isn’t valid, not important, or absolutely false.
Intellectualism has it’s place. I believe there is value in learning through words, through experimentation, through what we can see with our eyes, hear with our ears, feel with our skin. And scientific knowledge is not the only kind of knowledge there is, nor is it the most important or more valid than other forms of knowledge.
I want to note that knowing and believing are different things. Belief, often but not always, comes from our social indoctination. It is something that we assume to be true, because we’ve been told it…
