As we move further and further into ecological and economic collapse, our need for each other exponentially grows. Our need for community, and to be in nurturing and nourishing relationship, is wired into our DNA. As a species we evolved (and survived) in community, in relationship, with each other. We were cared for by the community and we cared for the community as a whole as well as the individuals in it.
Capitalism, White Supremacy, Patriarchy and colonialism have all contributed to our increasing isolation, not only from each other, but also from the plants, animals, water, air, dirt, stars, and planets, that make up our universe, as well as our own souls and core sense of Self. We have a “loneliness epidemic” and are in a perpetual seeking for actual authentic connection with others, never finding what we are hoping for in part because of the trauma that lives in our own bodies, minds, and spirits.
